Reblogged from the world we live in

funny listening to oldies now and remembering how much i didnt like them a long time ago.. guess it takes me back to the childhood days where id be in the back seat of the car falling asleep on a ride home with the family with this music playing. good times.. good times indeed.

this is radley

i reallly enjoy it when master cj’s friends come over. They are really nice to me and love to pet my belly. I wish they could come visit master CJ and I more often

07, didnt know this was what i was asking for. its gonna take me knowing my true self before some can even understand half of who i am and what my goals as a dancer, student, or human are. Don’t try reading me when im already quite lost.

Our Dance Community
It started out as a conversation, but turned into something more. Lovelyn, Sean, Mika, Jerome and I reminisced on the dance community and its evolution.. and this is what we came up with. We joked about putting it on a shirt, or starting a Wikipedia page, haha.. but it was a lot of fun. Not every team is there, and it’s definitely not perfect - some if it could only be connected from what we’ve witnessed from afar.
But as we were writing this, it became a visual reminder of who I am in the community and where I came from. Despite any disagreements I may have with the direction it’s headed, I’m proud to be a part of this community and a part of its history.
And I’m blessed to say that I’ve literally watched most of this unfold, now in my tenth year. So many dancers have no idea where their roots are grounded.. and so many teachers, choreographers, and directors are failing to pay their respect to those who paved the way. We forget that so many people and teams before us made this possible. Fact: We would not be here without those people.
Know your roots. And when I say that, I actually mean go out and do your homework. Educate yourself and educate others. It’s a privilege to share our gifts with the world.. and our community literally impacts so many people across the globe. So take pride in who you are in this community and who helped you become who you are today.

There are probably some more branches i could see being added towards the irvine/la side, but all that’s here is already pretty insane.

so many people need to read this, its been bugging me for awhile, i didnt necessarily watch everything in the dance community unfold, but ive been seeing the differences vividly within the community, despite how amazing the scene is today, i still wish i was part of an older generation because it was that generation that inspired me to dance.

idk if anyone else has noticed

but damn.. musicality has come so far in terms of choreography these days since 5-6 years ago and before. a lot of well known choreographers really have such a strong connection to the music. the way they hit not just the beats, but even the lyrics and what they say in the lyrics and even the tone/ voice of the lyrics is just plain amazing. i just watched “goon,” and “zodiac”  by vinh nguyen, and “daydreamer” by keone and mari, and im just as amazed as the first time i watched them. same goes for the choreographers up here in irvine! man dancing is getting intense.
